The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is a powerful 2026 flagship smartphone designed to compete at the highest level, combining a huge 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display, a 2.9-inch rear screen, Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 performance, dual 200MP cameras, an enormous 8500mAh battery, and 100W fast charging.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Max review

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max was announced and released on September 23, 2026, positioning it as one of Xiaomi’s most ambitious flagship smartphones. It combines premium hardware, advanced cameras, a large battery, high-speed charging, and a distinctive secondary display on the back.

The phone measures 163.4 × 77.6 × 8.4 mm and weighs approximately 235 or 240 grams, depending on the configuration. Its construction combines a glass front protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3 with an aluminum frame. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max also offers IP68 dust and water resistance, with protection against immersion in up to 6 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.

1. Huge 6.9-Inch LTPO AMOLED Display

One of the biggest attractions of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is its 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display. The screen supports an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling, gaming, animations, and general navigation look extremely smooth. It also supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and BT.2020 for an impressive viewing experience.

The display reaches a remarkable 4000 nits peak brightness, helping improve visibility in bright outdoor environments. With a resolution of 1208 × 2624 pixels and approximately 418 pixels per inch, the display should provide sharp text, detailed images, and excellent video quality. Another important feature is 2160Hz PWM, which is designed to help with display brightness control.

2. A Unique 2.9-Inch Rear Display

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max goes beyond a conventional smartphone design by adding a 2.9-inch LTPO AMOLED secondary display on the back. This rear screen has a resolution of 596 × 976 pixels and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, HDR10+, BT.2020, and up to 4000 nits peak brightness.

A secondary display can be useful for checking information, controlling certain functions, customizing the phone’s appearance, and potentially taking better selfies with the powerful rear cameras.

3. Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

Performance is another major highlight. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, manufactured using a 2nm process. The processor features an octa-core configuration with frequencies reaching up to 5.01GHz.

Graphics are handled by the Adreno 850 GPU, making the phone suitable for demanding games, high-resolution video processing, multitasking, and AI-powered applications. The smartphone runs Android 17 with HyperOS 4, providing Xiaomi’s latest software experience.

4. Up to 1TB of Storage and 16GB RAM

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max provides several memory configurations:

• 256GB storage with 12GB RAM.
• 512GB storage with 12GB RAM.
• 512GB storage with 16GB RAM.
• 1TB storage with 16GB RAM.

The phone uses UFS 4.1 storage technology for fast data access. There is no microSD card slot, so users should choose their storage capacity carefully. For people who record a lot of 4K or 8K video, the 1TB model could be particularly attractive.

5. Dual 200MP Leica Camera System

Photography is arguably one of the strongest features of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. The main camera system includes:

• 200MP wide camera with f/1.7 aperture and OIS.
• 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.2x optical zoom and OIS.
• 50MP ultrawide camera with a 102-degree field of view.

The cameras also include Leica lenses, laser autofocus, a color spectrum sensor, HDR, panorama, and dual-LED dual-tone flash. Having two 200MP sensors gives the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max an unusually powerful camera setup for a flagship smartphone.

6. Advanced 8K and 4K Video Recording

The camera system is also designed for serious video recording. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max can record 8K video at 30fps with HDR. For 4K recording, it supports 30fps, 60fps, and 120fps, alongside HDR10+, 10-bit Dolby Vision HDR, and 10-bit LOG.

Slow-motion capabilities are also extensive, including 1080p at up to 960fps and 720p at up to 1920fps. Gyro-EIS helps stabilize footage and can make handheld video smoother. The front camera is a 50MP sensor capable of recording 4K video at 30fps and 60fps.

7. Massive 8500mAh Battery

Battery life could be one of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max’s biggest advantages. The smartphone packs an enormous 8500mAh silicon-carbon lithium-ion battery. For users who spend long periods browsing, gaming, streaming video, taking photos, or using AI applications, such a large battery can provide a major advantage.

The phone supports 100W wired charging, along with PD 3.0, QC 3+, and 100W PPS compatibility. It also supports 50W wireless charging and 27W reverse wireless charging, allowing the phone to wirelessly charge compatible accessories.

8. Premium Connectivity

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max supports 5G, LTE, HSPA, and GSM networks. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and an infrared port. It also supports multiple satellite positioning systems, including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, and NavIC.

USB connectivity comes through USB Type-C 3.2, with DisplayPort and OTG support. The phone also includes Ultra Wideband (UWB) support, which can enable more precise device and accessory positioning.

9. Immersive Audio and Security

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max features three speakers with Dolby Atmos, providing a more immersive audio experience. It supports 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res audio and Hi-Res wireless audio, alongside Snapdragon Sound.

For biometric security, Xiaomi includes an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner, which can offer fast and accurate authentication. Other sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, compass, and barometer.

10. Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Price and Colors

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is listed at approximately €920, although the actual retail price can vary depending on the market, storage configuration, taxes, and availability.

Available colors include:

• Black.
• White.
• Pink.
• Red.
• Blue.

The combination of multiple colors, large display, powerful cameras, huge battery, and premium specifications makes the phone an attractive option for users looking for a high-end 2026 flagship.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Max: Is It Worth Buying?

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is clearly aimed at users who want maximum hardware performance and flagship-level features. Its strongest advantages include the 6.9-inch 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display, rear 2.9-inch screen, Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, dual 200MP Leica cameras, 8500mAh battery, 100W charging, 50W wireless charging, Wi-Fi 7, and up to 1TB of storage with 16GB RAM.

The lack of microSD expansion and a 3.5mm headphone jack may disappoint some users, but these are increasingly common compromises in premium smartphones.
