What are the laws of light reflection?

Laws of light reflection

The distance between the Earth and the Moon can be measured by the reflection of a laser beam directed from the Earth towards a reflection surface placed on the Moon surface.

TheĀ  reflection of light is governed by two laws, the first law of light reflection is the angle of incidence which makes with the normal equals the angle of reflectionĀ  that makes with the normal, The reflected ray and the incident ray are on the opposite sides of the normal.

The incident light ray, the reflected light ray and the normal to the surface of reflection at the point of incidence , all lie in one plane perpendicular to the reflecting surface.

The incident light ray is a narrow light beam which is represented by a straight line, it intersects with the reflecting surface at the point of incidence.

The reflected light ray is a narrow light beam which is represented by a straight line that is reflected from the reflected surface at the point of incidence.

The angle of incidence is the angle between the incident light ray and the line perpendicular to the reflecting surface at the point of incidence.

The angle of reflection is the angle between the reflected light ray and line perpendicular to the reflecting surface at the point of incidence.

The incident light ray which falls perpendicular on a reflecting surface, reflects on itself, because the angle of incidence and the angle of reflection equals zero.

If the reflecting surface is very smooth, the reflection of light that occurs is called specular or regular reflection, when the light ray strikes a plane mirror, the light ray will reflectĀ  off the mirror, and the reflection of light involves a change in the direction of the light ray.

The objects can be seen by the light they emit, the objects do not produce their own light, the light strikes the object and reflect from the objects into our eyes, so, we can see the objects.
